BHB Salts In BurnTide: 5 Things To Know About Ketone Salts
BHB is beta-hydroxybutyrate, a ketone body the liver makes when carbohydrate is scarce. BurnTide carries three BHB salts, with calcium, magnesium and sodium, inside one 525 mg blend. Research on ketone salts and esters used grams. The amount in the gummy is not published and is far smaller.

- What BHB is: a ketone body. On its own it is an acid, so it is sold bound to a mineral.
- On this label: BHB calcium, BHB magnesium and BHB sodium, named together inside the blend.
- Amounts: not published. The blend total is 525 mg, shared with apple cider vinegar.
- Research amounts: 10 to 25 g of salts or esters in a single drink.
- Mineral rows: calcium 1 mg, magnesium 0.75 mg, sodium 2.5 mg, each 0% Daily Value.
- Ketosis: not claimed on the jar, and not what these amounts could do.
What is a BHB ketone, in plain words?
Your liver makes ketone bodies when carbohydrate is scarce. Beta-hydroxybutyrate, or BHB, is one of them. Muscle and brain can burn it as fuel, and researchers also describe it as a signal that touches how genes and inflammation behave.
Taken by mouth, BHB raises blood ketones without any need to cut carbohydrate. That is why supplement makers like it. But on its own BHB is an acid, so it is sold as a salt attached to a mineral: calcium, magnesium or sodium.
Search phrases such as beta hydroxybutyrate ketone and bhb ketones point at this one molecule. Everything below is about how it appears on a BurnTide jar.
What are the 5 things to know about BHB salts in BurnTide?
Thing 1: The label names three salts
The proprietary blend lists apple cider vinegar first and then BHB calcium, magnesium and sodium. The label calls them B-hydroxybutyrate salts. No separate weight is printed for any of them.
Thing 2: The mineral rows are your only clue to size
Calcium 1 mg, magnesium 0.75 mg and sodium 2.5 mg are printed above the blend. They are the mineral halves of the salts. They put the salt in the tens of milligrams, not grams.
Thing 3: Salts and esters are different drinks
Research has used both ketone ester drinks and ketone salt drinks. A ketone salt is BHB bound to a mineral. BurnTide shows salts only, as far as the label goes.
Thing 4: The research used grams
Studies on ketone salts and esters used 10 to 25 g in a serving, because that is what it takes to move blood ketones. This site's arithmetic puts the salts in one gummy at about 27 mg, which is around a thousandth of that.
Thing 5: Ketosis is not on the table
BurnTide does not induce ketosis, and neither this site nor the label says it does. The ketone side of the blend is a token amount next to the research doses.
Do the calcium and sodium parts of BHB salts bring any benefit?
Searches for calcium bhb benefits or sodium bhb benefits often assume the mineral does the work. On this label it does not. The calcium is 1 mg against a Daily Value of 1,300 mg. The sodium is 2.5 mg against 2,300 mg. Magnesium is 0.75 mg against 420 mg.
All three round to 0%. They are declared because the salts contain them, not because the gummy is a mineral supplement. If you take calcium or magnesium on a doctor's advice, this jar changes nothing, but it is still worth mentioning.
Sodium is the one to note if someone is counting it with you. The CDC and FDA both treat sodium as a ceiling. At 2.5 mg a gummy it is negligible against that ceiling, yet it has two possible sources, the BHB sodium salt and sodium citrate on the ingredient line.
Ketone salts vs esters: how do they differ in the research?
The studies treat the two as cousins. Stubbs and colleagues mapped how blood ketones rise after ester and salt drinks and how the body clears them. A later paper from the same group found a ketone ester drink lowered ghrelin, the hunger hormone, and reported appetite.
Sports reviews are more cautious. Their reading is that exogenous ketones in exercise gave mixed, dose-dependent results. One study had healthy adults drink ketone monoester for 28 days and found it tolerable, at doses hundreds of times larger than anything in this jar.
- Ketone ester: studied as a drink, in grams.
- Ketone salt: studied as a drink or powder, in grams.
- BurnTide: salts only, inside a gummy, in an unpublished amount.
That safety result says the molecule is reassuring. It does not say that a small amount of it does anything.
How small is the BHB amount in a BurnTide gummy?
Work it through. If every milligram of calcium, magnesium and sodium on the panel comes from the three salts, they weigh about 27 mg between them and carry about 23 mg of BHB. The remaining 498 mg or so of the blend would then be dried vinegar.
None of those four numbers is printed on the label. They are arithmetic from numbers that are, and they rest on one assumption: that no other ingredient supplies those minerals. Sodium citrate also supplies sodium, so treat the result as a rough guide, not a fact.
Even so, the order of the blend is the real hint. Vinegar is listed ahead of the salts, so it outweighs them combined. The ketone side is a small part of an already small blend.
How do the BurnTide label and the BHB research compare?
| Item | On the BurnTide label | In the research |
|---|---|---|
| BHB calcium | Inside the 525 mg blend; calcium row 1 mg | Studied as part of 10 to 25 g drinks |
| BHB magnesium | Inside the 525 mg blend; magnesium row 0.75 mg | Studied as part of 10 to 25 g drinks |
| BHB sodium | Inside the 525 mg blend; sodium row 2.5 mg | Studied as part of 10 to 25 g drinks |
| Total BHB amount | Not published | Grams per serving |
| Ketone esters | Not on the label | Studied as drinks, including a 28-day tolerability study |
| Ketosis claim | None made | Needs gram doses |
Frequently asked questions
What are BHB salts?
They are beta-hydroxybutyrate bound to a mineral, here calcium, magnesium and sodium. They are sold because BHB on its own is an acid.
How much BHB is in BurnTide?
Not published. If all the declared minerals came from the salts, they would weigh about 27 mg. That is this site's arithmetic and not a label figure.
Are ketone salts and esters the same thing?
Salts are BHB bound to a mineral. Research used both salt and ester drinks, in grams. BurnTide shows salts only.
Does calcium BHB or sodium BHB give a benefit at this dose?
Nothing is claimed. The calcium row is 1 mg and the sodium row is 2.5 mg, both 0% Daily Value.
Do BHB ketones put you in ketosis?
Measurable ketosis took gram doses in the research. BurnTide does not claim it.
Is it safe to take ketone salts with medicine?
Ask a pharmacist. The label advises talking to a healthcare professional if you take medication, are pregnant or nursing, or have a known condition.
Our view
BHB is a real, well-studied molecule, and it is fair that a supplement should want it. The problem is scale. A gummy that holds tens of milligrams cannot repeat studies that used grams.
So read the ketone part of BurnTide as a token inclusion, and judge the product on its habit value and its guarantee. If that matches what you want, fine. If you want exogenous ketones that do something measurable, a gummy is not where the research points.
Speak to your doctor before you add any ketone product if you take medicine, have diabetes or follow a low-sodium plan.
Please note. BurnTide is a dietary supplement. It is not FDA approved, and no dietary supplement is. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your own health questions before you start.
